Hi! I’m Jake, this is a bit about myself and how Jake Does Web Solutions was born. I’ve always had a passion for technology. When I was really small I remember my family having a computer with windows 95/2000 playing computer games. I have memories of wondering what when into the cartrage get the game to run and almost electrocuting myself playing with a lightbulb triyng to see how it worked. In the 6th grade, if I knew we were going to a store like Walmart, I would go on grocery shopping trips. In the tech section, thats where my passion grew. I was shown what was new and hot, not only in computers but mobile phones, video games, tablets, and everything in between. I started watching videos about consumer technology and got into different YouTube creators who were just as passionate about technology. I was drawn to mobile tech in particular, like phones and tablets and wearables such as smartwatches.
I started a programming course at New Brunswick Community College in 2020 and learned quickly that I really did not like coding; I didn’t have the patience to find where I had misplaced or forgotten a semicolon. I thought I couldn’t create digital things because I felt I couldn’t learn these new, utterly backward-seeming programming languages until new tools allowed me to create digital products without coding knowledge.
I figured that I learned better in a classroom setting or with a self-paced course that held me accountable. I switched from Programming and Analytics to a Business Marketing course in 2021 and graduated in 2023.
In 2020 I reached out to a local coffee roaster and offered to help them finish their website. I dont believe I had much if any knowlege about a shopify website but I thought I could learn some valuble things from this experience. When I got my first $200 from finishing the website I thought "I could do this for a living". JDWS was born.
